KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDN) received praise from social media users following a recent operation against a restaurant owner caught storing controlled items without a permit.
In a TikTok video posted by KPDN Melaka, a restaurant owner was questioned by the ministry officers after he was found storing packets of sugar and subsidised cooking oil without a permit.
The officers stated that without a permit, the owner can only store controlled goods as per the limit stated by the ministry.
Later, the owner explained that he was unaware of such a rule as he only started his restaurant business for seven months.
Then, the officers explained the importance of the permit as it would help the ministry in monitoring subsidised goods movement.
Some social supporters were supportive of the action taken by the officers, as @quemonn urged the ministry to fine the owner.
"Please fine him," she said.
Meanwhile, other users suggested that they produce a video explaining the controlled goods and the rules involved in their usage.
@abangayam23 told KPDN to do an explainer video about the limit for restaurant owners to store controlled goods like sugar, flour and cooking oil.
"Try making a video on how many kilograms of sugar, oil, and flour can be stored," he said.
