Singapore recalls Malaysian peanut cake

KUALA LUMPUR: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has announced a food recall of Good's Veg. Peanut Cake (Kacang Koya) from Malaysia after detecting the presence of milk in the product, which was not declared on the packaging label.

As milk is a known allergen, the SFA has directed the importer, Goods Huat Hee Marketing, to recall the affected product from the market.

Under Singapore's Food Regulations, food products must declare all ingredients that may cause hypersensitivity, such as milk, to ensure the safety of consumers with allergies.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the SFA said that while milk does not pose a general food safety risk, it can be harmful to individuals who are allergic or intolerant to it.

"Consumers who have purchased the product and have a milk allergy or intolerance are advised not to consume it. If anyone allergic or intolerant to milk has already consumed the product, they are urged to seek medical advice."
