JOHOR BARU: Who needs celebrity status when you're a cat named Jit Jit?
It all began about five months ago when the orange cat wandered into a petrol station in Taman Molek here.
What was meant to be a temporary visit turned into a permanent stay, and now Jit Jit has made the station her home, receiving affection from customers who stop by to see her
This once-homeless cat has captured the hearts of both staff and patrons, becoming the station's unofficial mascot and a social media sensation.
Jit Jit's adorable antics have garnered over 4.2 million views on TikTok, where her charming personality continues to win over fans.
The station owner Fuad Othman, 46, recalled the day Jit Jit first appeared.
"Other cats came and left, but Jit Jit is different," Fuad said.
"She is active at night, always playful, and loves being around people. Our customers adore her."
Although Fuad is not a cat lover, he allows his employees to care for the strays that occasionally wander into the station.
"Jit Jit is the fourth or fifth cat that has passed through here, but she's the only one that has stayed this long," he said.
"Our staff keeps her clean and feeds her. She's part of our station family now."
Jit Jit even wears a little jacket similar to the staff uniform, complete with a name tag. Unfortunately, she lost it because she loves roaming around at night.
People from as far as Kuala Lumpur have made special trips just to meet the feline sensation, bringing food and snapping selfies.
One of her fans, Norhazlinda Ahmad, 23, travelled from Kulai after being captivated by Jit Jit's presence on social media.
"She's so friendly, unlike many stray cats that tend to be wary of people. Meeting her was worth the trip!" she said.
Despite Jit Jit's rise to fame, Fuad insists the station does not accept cash donations, though he appreciates the cat food contributions for the cat.
"We didn't choose Jit Jit; she chose us. Maybe it was meant to be," Fuad added, saying that Jit Jit has undoubtedly brought joy to the station.
