KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued warnings of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds expected to affect several parts of the country today.
In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia identified two areas in Sabah — Sandakan and Kinabatangan — and three areas in Sarawak — Subis, Beluru, Miri, Marudi, Bintulu, and Sebauh — as being at risk of adverse weather conditions.
Labuan is also expected to experience similar weather.
In Peninsular Malaysia, Penang is the only state anticipated to face difficult conditions, particularly in the southwest and northeast regions.
Yesterday, MetMalaysia predicted continuous rain at the alert level for several states in Sabah, beginning Saturday and lasting three days.
Kelantan is also expected to face similar conditions, with districts such as Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, and Pasir Puteh forecasted to experience heavy rainfall for three days starting Dec 29.
