KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants (SRG) have advanced into the semi-finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid-Season Cup (MSC) in Riyadh.
SRG, who are on an unbeaten run in a full series, edged Turkish side Fire Flux Esports (FF) 3-2 in the quarter-finals yesterday.
Both teams went game-for-game, and in the decisive fifth, SRG cruised to victory in 12 minutes, extending their impressive winning streak to 104 days.
SRG Filipino coach Michael (Arcadia) Angelo Bocado expects his players to improve further in the final four when they meet either compatriots Homebois or Singapore's NIP Flash.
"As a coach, I'm not completely satisfied with our performance. I believe we could have ended the series at 3-1. In Game 4, we were doing pretty well but suddenly made some lapses. It's part of the game, but it's something we can correct moving forward.
"It's about discipline. As a team, we are confident. Our mentality is that we can take on anyone, any enemies, and any heroes, but sometimes we are too overconfident.
"I believe you can expect more seriousness and discipline in our next series. We need to adjust and improve.''
SRG secured direct qualification to the group stage of the MSC after emerging as the MPL Malaysia champions this year with an unbeaten record.
In the MSC, SRG were drawn in Group B and emerged group champions after notching two wins and one draw.
They defeated Team Falcons of Saudi Arabia 2-0, drew with Indonesia's Fnatic Onic 1-1, and were awarded a 2-0 win over See You Soon of Cambodia after the latter were found to have infringed tournament rules.
The MSC, part of the eSports World Cup line-up, offers a lucrative US$3 million (RM14.1 million) prize purse.
