More and more people coming forward to help pay Selangor's RM100,000 fine

SHAH ALAM: Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail will donate half of his salary for next month to help Selangor FC pay the RM100,000 fine by the Malaysian Football League (MFL).

He is the third state rep to do so, following in the footsteps of Lembah Jaya assemblyman and rapper Altimet and Kota Damansara's Izuan Kasim.

Rizam, who is also the Chairman of the State Standing Committee on Village Development, Unity, and Consumer Affairs, said he is coming forward in the spirit of solidarity with Selangor FC.

"This solidarity is not a political show but a manifestation of the support from the people of Selangor for our pride, the Red Giants. Whether they are on top or below, we remain loyal together," he said in a statement today.

"I hope the supporters will continue their strong support for Selangor so that all the players remain motivated in facing this challenge. May the Red Giants remain a force in Malaysian football."

The MFL took action against Selangor following their team's "no-show" at the Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta'zim at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on May 10 following an acid attack on Faisal Halim and alleged threats to Selangor team officials.

The MFL fined Selangor RM100,000, with the money to be donated to a charity organisation that will be decided later.

The MFL also took into consideration losses incurred by the home team, JDT, and the league's organisers.
