Hajiji confident GRS-PH Sabah partnership will continue to thrive under new leadership

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is confident that its cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah will remain robust under the leadership of Datuk Ewon Benedick, who has been appointed the new chairman of Sabah PH.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also the chairman of GRS, stated that there are no issues with continuing the current collaboration between the two alliances.

"Of course, there's no problem. He (Ewon) is a friend and a leader we've worked with before, so we will carry on with our collaboration," he told reporters after launching the Tuaran District Economic Development Strategic Plan 2024-2035 at the Sabah International Convention Centre today.

Hajiji congratulated Ewon, the president of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation , on his appointment and expressed hope that the partnership and unity between PH and GRS would continue to strengthen.

He emphasised that the cooperation between PH and GRS could yield significant benefits for Sabah.

In the PH Sabah annual general meeting held last Sunday, Ewon triumphed over incumbent Datuk Christina Liew by just three votes. He will serve in the role for the next two years.

PH Sabah became a cooperation partner of GRS in the current state government after the alliance supported Hajiji and his government during the Sabah political crisis, when UMNO withdrew its support early last year.
