Datuk Vida property auction delayed as company claims ownership [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The auction of properties belonging to cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, better known as Datuk Vida, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow, has been postponed.

Samir Zainal, the lawyer representing a subcontractor involved in the claim, as well as Datuk Vida's counsel Datuk Adnan Seman confirmed the matter today.

Samir said the auction had been deferred to Jan 8 next year.

"It has been postponed because Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd has filed an application claiming ownership of the properties," he said today.

Samir also said he would discuss with his client, who is the plaintiff in the case, whether to appeal against the court's decision.

"I will need to contact my client tomorrow to determine whether an appeal will be filed," he said.

Previously, it was reported that Vida had failed to settle the outstanding balance for her factory in Shah Alam, Selangor, which had been converted into a studio in 2018, amounting to RM1,060,285.

As a result, a seizure order was issued by the Kuala Lumpur High Court to settle her debts. The court, along with Samir and contractor Mohamad Taufik Kamarul, had applied to enforce the order on Datuk Vida's residence in Persiaran Bukit Meru, Ipoh.
