Datuk Vida's assets seized, employees carry on as usual

IPOH: Employees of Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, popularly known as Datuk Vida, carried on their daily routines at her bungalow in Persiaran Bukit Meru today, despite the recent seizure of the property and four vehicles.

A 45-minute observation from 10.20am today revealed no unusual activity at the premises, which were seized following Hasmiza's failure to settle debts exceeding RM1 million.

The entrepreneur owes RM1,060,285 to construction contractor Ah Design Communication, a debt outstanding since 2018.

An employee, speaking anonymously, said he only learned of the seizure yesterday morning when the Ipoh High Court bailiff and representatives from the contractor arrived to execute the confiscation.

"We didn't know anything until they came to the house yesterday morning," said the employee, who has worked as a security guard at the bungalow for 12 years.

He added that staff will continue their duties until instructed otherwise by Hasmiza.

"We don't have a WhatsApp group, but we saw her social media post last night, where she asked for space to handle the situation," he said.

The seizure, carried out by the Ipoh High Court bailiff, lawyer Samir Zainal, and subcontractor representative Mohamad Taufik Kamarul, was ordered by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Last night, Hasmiza, 53, announced on social media that she had appointed a lawyer to address the matter.
