Najib's daughter claims real masterminds remain free, evading action

KUALA LUMPUR: Nooryana Najwa, daughter of Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has expressed her view that the court's decision requiring her father to answer four charges of using his position to secure nearly RM2.3 billion from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fund, alongside 21 charges of money laundering, is unjust.

She questioned why it appears only her father is held accountable, despite the fact that the 1MDB case involves numerous individuals and organisations.

Nooryana shared her sentiments in an Instagram post today.

"Only one person is bearing the consequences. This is not justice. The true masterminds remain free, evading any action," she said.

Yesterday, the High Court ordered Najib to defend himself against 25 charges of money laundering and abuse of power, linked to receiving RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds.

Justice Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, who currently serves in the Court of Appeal, issued this ruling after finding that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Najib.

In her statement, Nooryana highlighted that the 1MDB trial involves multiple global financial institutions, failures in governance at various levels, and the involvement of both local and international agencies.

However, she expressed sadness that only her father seems to be facing repercussions.

Earlier, Nooryana had urged her father, through the same platform yesterday, not to lose hope in light of recent developments.

She said that she and her family would remain resilient in facing the ongoing situation.

"Never lose hope. Storms make us stronger, and they do not last forever," she wrote.
