Jojo prepared to 'go crazy' with Estupinan

KUALA LUMPUR: Muay Thai exponent Johan Ghazali Zulfikar is prepared for an unpredictable fight against undefeated Colombian Johan Estupinan at ONE 170 in Bangkok on Jan 24.

Johan, better known by his nickname Jojo, said Estupinan is a "crazy" fighter who also has the ability to switch up his game on the fly.

Johan, who is at six wins and one loss in the ONE series, is currently undergoing a training camp in Bangkok in preparation for the flyweight bout which will be held at the Impact Arena.

"Estupinan is a very aggressive fighter and is very different. I have been learning how to counter his punches because he is a very crazy fighter," said Johan when contacted in Bangkok today (Dec 16).

"I can either go crazy with him or stay calm and counter his punches. I am learning both (in training).

"Honestly, it depends. I cannot say for certain how he is going to fight on the day because he can always switch up his game.

"But I will be ready, if I need to be patient, I can be patient. If I need to push, I will push."

Johan, 18, added that he is not concerned about Estupinan's undefeated background. The latter is at 4-0 after joining the ONE roster this year but his combined professional record is 26-0.

"It is true that he has never lost but you have to keep in mind that his previous opponents were nothing crazy, just average (fighters)," said Johan.

"It is a good record but at the same time it does not really mean much to me.

"I have been in camp here (Bangkok) for almost two months and it has been amazing - the best camp I have ever had. I have been training and sparring with some great fighters.

"I have learnt a lot and I am fit and ready. Of course, I am 100 per cent confident I can beat him."

Johan defeated Mexican Josue Cruz via a first round knockout in his last fight during ONE 168 (Sep 7) in Denver, Colorado.
