KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department raided a luxury entertainment centre in Jalan Sultan Ismail offering the services of foreign guest relations officers (GROs), late last night.
Kuala Lumpur Immigration director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said 123 undocumented individuals, comprising 54 men and 69 women, were detained in the three-hour operation, which began at 12.15am.
They included patrons, employees, as well as suspected GROs and dancers from China, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Sierra Leone.
An inspection of the two-story venue, which housed a nightclub and KTV karaoke rooms, uncovered different priced sashes used to tip the GROs.
The GRO services were priced between RM100 and RM5,000, while KTV room rentals ranged from RM5,000 to RM8,000.
"Offences included lack of valid documentation, misuse of permits, overstaying, and employers harbouring and hiring undocumented migrants," he said at the scene early this morning.
The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.– Bernama
