SEPANG: Malaysia remain wary despite winning two international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) titles this year, refusing to label themselves as eSports giants just yet.
National assistant coach Poon "OzoraVeki" Kok Sing believes the M6 World Championships next month will provide a true measure of the nation's standing in the international eSports arena.
On Friday, Malaysia grabbed headlines in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by clinching the MLBB title at the World eSports Championships (WEC).
This victory followed Selangor Red Giants' (SRG) success at the Mid-Season Cup in July, also in Riyadh.
"The other regions are still very competitive, and we will see again at the M6 World Championships, which I think will be very challenging," said Kok Sing after arriving at KLIA here with his team today.
Kok Sing labelled regional powerhouses Indonesia and the Philippines as favourites, while emerging nations like Cambodia could spring a surprise at M6.
The tournament begins with the wild card stage on Thursday at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre.
SRG, regarded as one of the favourites, will kick off their campaign in the Swiss stage on Nov 28 against Turkiye champions S2G.
With their dominance this year—winning both league splits and the MSC title—SRG are chasing the coveted "Golden Road" achievement.
Team Vamos, another Malaysian representative, will also compete at M6, looking to make their mark on the international stage.
