KUALA LUMPUR: Team Vamos confirmed their upper bracket spot for the playoff stage with two wins in the final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPLMY).
Their record of seven victories from nine matches ensured they finished second with 18 points, behind league leaders Selangor Red Giants (SRG), who amassed 24 points.
Vamos' roamer Zulhisyam "Xorn" Nor said the upper bracket slot gives them a slight advantage in their bid to secure a place at the M6 World Championships in Bukit Jalil next month.
"We'll have two lives in the upper bracket, while other teams will only have one. That gives us room to try out strategies that we've worked on before the playoffs start.
"If something doesn't work, we can reset and fix whatever needs fixing," Xorn said at the Subang Jaya City Council Stadium in Serdang Jaya on Sunday.
The 25-year-old hopes his team will perform better in the playoffs than they did in the regular season.
The final week of the regular season kicked off on Friday with a shock as Monster Vicious (MV) handed SRG their first defeat in 19 MPLMY games, coming back from one game down to win 2-1.
Vamos notched their first win of the weekend by defeating league bottom-dwellers RSG Malaysia.
On Saturday, Todak overcame Red Esports 2-0, while Homebois handed RSG their second defeat of the week, also 2-0.
MV couldn't sustain the momentum from their victory over SRG, losing 2-0 to JP Niners.
Vamos wrapped up their regular season campaign with a 2-1 win over Team Rey, while SRG finished the season on a high with a 2-0 victory over Team Haq.
The playoffs will take place at the EduCity Sports Complex's Indoor Arena in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, from Oct 31-Nov 3.
The top two teams will represent Malaysia at the M6 World Championships.
