KUALA LUMPUR: The Negeri Sembilan men's basketball team made history by securing their seventh consecutive title at the 2024 Malaysia Basketball Association (MABA)-MJ Health Agong's Cup National Basketball Championships yesterday (Sept 22).
Negri defeated Johor 85-57 in the final at Arena Larkin Indoor Stadium. Johor finished runners-up in the tournament for a second year in a row.
Ting Chun Hong was the standout player of the match, contributing 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists, leading Negri to yet another championship win.
Negri captain Wong Yi Hou was all smiles after the win and expressed gratitude to Negri team owner Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock for his support.
"We are incredibly proud to bring home our seventh consecutive title," said Yi Hou.
"Every year we face new challenges but with his (Tian Hock) backing, we continue to grow stronger as a team."
Tian Hock is also MABA president. Negri pocketed RM18,000 for their win.
The Agong's Cup is the nation's premier domestic basketball competition which brings together top talent from across the country.
