KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka's Goh Zhi Xuan defeated joint fifth seed Lam Po Ying of Hong Kong to win the ACE PSA WSF Satellite No. 3 title at Arena Emas in Johor Baru today.
The 19-year-old Zhi Xuan won 11-6, 11-2, 18-16 in the final for her fourth Satellite title.
In the men's competition, Malaysia's joint fifth seed Tay Jun Qian won the title without even lifting his racquet after his opponent, Jerome Aw of Singapore, gave a walkover after suffering a knee injury in the semi-final yesterday.
Zhi Xuan said: "I did well to control the match from the first set, but I faced a real tough challenge in the third set. Glad to win in straight sets.
"Winning the title here is a boost for my preparation for next month's Asian Junior Championships in Pakistan," said Zhi Xuan, who was the runner-up in the Asian Junior meet (Under-17) in Bangkok two years ago.
Meanwhile fifth seed K. Sehveetrraa lost to Egypt's second seed Nour Khafagy 11-4, 9-11, 11-8, 2-11, 11-8 in the ACE Challenger women's final at the same venue,
In the men's final, Malaysia's world No. 370 Joachim Chuah lost to No. 109 and top seed Mohamed Nasser of Egypt 12-10, 11-8, 11-7.
