KUALA LUMPUR: A car plunged into the Mines Lake when the driver inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
A video of the incident, showing a car drowning at a distance, was captured by one of the mall visitors and has since gone viral.
In the video, the woman is heard screaming for help.
A few seconds later, a boat ferrying a few security personnel is seen heading towards the sinking vehicle.
The video shared on social media by a TikTok user, Kak Diamond Channel, has been viewed by over 30,000 viewers and liked by nearly 10,000 TikTokers.
The video also drew more than a thousand comments, most of which were concerned about the safety of the car's driver.
The user replied, saying the woman was safely rescued in time, but the vehicle could not be retrieved.
In their comments, users Zaaa, Aznie, and Rose Marliney Musa also asked the user how the driver ended up in the lake.
"Wasn't there a barricade near the lake?" One of them said in their comment.
Others made fun of the video and the videographer for the poor quality of the recording, while a few others said they were unclear about what they were looking for in the video.
