TASEK GELUGOR: An altercation between two men took a horrific turn when a foreigner gouged out the eyeball of another man during an incident at a flat on Jalan Ara Kuda here yesterday.
Berita Harian reported that the 2pm incident occurred when the victim, 52, who was reportedly drunk, allegedly disturbed the 28-year-old suspect.
During the fight, the suspect is said to have gouged out the victim's left eyeball with his hand.
The victim also sustained injuries to his right eye during the altercation.
It is learned that the victim is now in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the Kepala Batas Hospital.
The suspect was arrested by police at the scene of the incident.
Health Ministry personnel who arrived to transport the victim to the hospital reportedly found the victim's left eyeball not far from the scene.
Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
