KANGAR: Perlis FA (PFA) has confirmed that it is dragging FAM to court.
PFA said it has filed a lawsuit against the FA of Malaysia (FAM), which challenges the national body's decision to suspend PFA's membership without proper procedure on Dec 4.
FAM suspended PFA following the latter's failure to comply with world body FIFA's directive to pay outstanding wages, totalling RM998,000, to former PFA football director Matt Holland in 2019.
PFA president, Zamri Ibrahim, said that the lawsuit against FAM was filed at the Kangar High Court.
"We (PFA) have filed the lawsuit with the court last Friday, and we are still waiting for confirmation from the court. We expect that today (Monday), the court will have received and confirmed our application.
"However, I cannot elaborate on what we have filed in court regarding this matter. We will wait until the court officially confirms the lawsuit."
He said the lawsuit against FAM is essentially PFA's response to FAM's decision to suspend PFA without providing an opportunity for the association to defend itself regarding the dispute.
On Jan 8, 2019, PFA appointed former Swansea City player, Matt Holland, as its football director.
If PFA fails to settle with Holland, FIFA could sanction FAM as the second respondent.
FAM Internal Dispute Committee chairman Saaran Nadaraja decided to suspend PFA's affiliation with the national association until Holland gets his money.
