KUALA LUMPUR: In what is seen as the fight for second place in the Super League, Selangor extended their lead to nine points over archrivals Terengganu after a 1-0 win on Saturday.
Selangor's Chilean forward Ronnie Fernandez scored the fastest goal of the 2024-25 Super League season, finding the net just after 28 seconds into the match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium. This broke the previous mark of 33 seconds set by Kedah's Syafiq Ahmad in May.
Following Fernandez's stunner, Selangor played defensively to thwart all attempts from Terengganu.
Selangor ended the evening with four consecutive wins and unbeaten in their last six matches.
Selangor have 25 points, six behind Johor Darul Ta'zim while Terengganu remain third with 16.
Perak, on the back of a three-game winning streak, defeated Sri Pahang 3-0 at Temerloh Municipal Stadium.
Perak captain, Luciano Guaycochea, sparkled with two goals, in the 42nd and 47th minutes. Firdaus Saiyadi scored their third in the 61st.
The Silver State climbed to fourth with 15 points from 10 matches while Sri Pahang languished at the bottom of the table with only 11 points from 11 games.
