KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia produced a dominant start to their Under-19 Asean Championship campaign by demolishing Brunei 11-0 in their opening Group C match in Surabaya, Indonesia, on Friday.
The defending champions scored their opening goal just two minutes into the game through Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) II striker G. Pavithran.
Striker Abid Safaraz Rozaidi (14th, 16th), Danish Hakimi Sahaludin (25th), Haykal Danish Mohd Haizon (42nd) and Pavithran (43rd) brought the score to 6-0 at half-time.
Malaysia maintained their aggressive play in the second half with Izzat Syahir Mohd Zulihsan (51st), Amir Farhan Mohd Fuzi (66th), Zamirul Hakim Mohamad Khair (73rd), Abid (79th), Shafizan Arshad (81st) completing the rout.
Malaysia's next game is against Singapore on Monday, followed by Thailand on July 25.
