KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah have parted ways with their top Brazilian striker Ramon Macedo.
Macedo ended his contract with the Rhinos though it was to run until April 30, 2025.
Sabah announced Macedo's departure in a statement today (July 5), revealing that the 33-year-old requested a mutual termination of his contract.
"On behalf of the club and the entire Sabah FC community, I extend our deepest gratitude to Macedo for his contributions to our beloved team.
"Since his first appearance, Macedo has captured the hearts of the Rhinos' supporters with his beautiful goals and assists. We will certainly miss his swift and agile movements on the field, especially at our sacred ground, Likas Stadium.
"However, we must continue the journey that lies ahead. Football is a team sport. I have full confidence in all the players to carry the challenge forward. Keep giving your full support, and may our team achieve the targets we have set," said Sabah general manager Joh Wid.
Macedo joined Sabah last season and scored 17 goals in 24 appearances for Ong Kim Swee's side.
The news came just a day before Sabah host Terengganu in the FA Cup quarter-final return leg at Likas Stadium.
