SHAH ALAM: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will hold discussions next week on the upcoming Sabah election, including its "poster boy" and chief minister candidate for the state.
The coalition's chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said Bersatu has yet to decide on its proposed "poster boy" for the state polls.
"I'm not sure yet," he said when asked if Bersatu planned to name its vice-president, Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, as PN's poster boy in Sabah.
"Another issue to be discussed is whether we will contest alone or form a coalition with other parties in Sabah," he said during a press conference after Bersatu's annual general assembly here today.
Muhyiddin said PN will also discuss Sabah's 40 per cent revenue claim under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He added that Bersatu and the coalition had agreed in principle to include MA63 in their Sabah election manifesto.
Previously, PN component Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) urged the coalition to stay out of the Sabah polls in line with its stand against national parties contesting in the election.
SAPP president, Datuk Yong Teck Lee, said the party, which is also part of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, would contest under the ruling state coalition's ticket in the polls.
On the Sarawak election, Muhyiddin said Bersatu would consider proposals to contest more seats.
Yesterday, Sarawak Bersatu representative Ambrose Labang Anak Jamba proposed that the party contest 12 seats in the next state polls, expected in 2026.
Meanwhile, Bersatu Women's wing chief, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, announced that the party would submit a memorandum to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, seeking a postponement of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations due to severe flooding in several states.
"What we need to consider is not just relocating the affected students but also the psychological state of the candidates who are dealing with the floods," she said.
Earlier today, it was reported that over 150,000 people in nine states have been evacuated due to the floods.
