KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today reiterated that he is ready to be investigated over claims that there are elements of deception in forming the current government after the 15th General Election.
The Barisan Nasional chairman said the coalition has a video recording of 10 members of Parliament, who had allegedly signed two statutory declarations, signed a pledge that gives him the power to form the government.
"I hope the responsible parties such as the police, Registrar of Societies or even the Attorney-General Chambers themself will investigate the claims," he said to reporters at MyPPP annual general assembly here today.
On Aug 30, Bersatu Youth lodged a police report against Zahid who alleged that he secured 30 SDs from BN endorsing Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir, who lodged the report, called for authorities to investigate whether there was any attempt to deceive or mislead the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in appointing the prime minister after GE15 in November 2022.
He was referring to claims by Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that said he has gotten 10 SDs from BN MPs, who supported him as the prime minister.
Zahid said the 10MPs had already previously signed the pledge with BN not under duress.
"The 10MPs had already signed a statutory declaration or a pledge that the power to form the government lies with the BN chairman and that the seat that they won belonged to the party.
"They didn't sign the SDs under duress. We have a video recording of all of them signing the documents.
"We are open to further investigations with the relevant parties," he said.
