KUALA LUMPUR: People cope with the loss of a loved one in different ways.
One young man chose to spend hours mourning his mother's passing, lying next to her grave daily for months.
He was seen wearing a Foodpanda T-shirt, lying on a mat next to a grave, catching the attention of other visitors.
One of the visitors, who had noticed the man, posted a picture of him on social media after he suddenly stopped going to the cemetery in Bangi.
"It makes me worried. It's been over a month since I last saw this young man.
"Usually, whenever I come here, whether in the morning or evening, he would visit his mother's grave.
"He would even bring along a packet of tea.
"He would sit by his mother's grave for a long time. This (photo) was the last time I saw him.
"It was nearly 6.30pm at the time," said the user on Facebook account Su Ahmad.
She said last saw him before falling asleep after reciting Yassin for his mother a month ago.
"Should we wake him up? I'm worried. It's almost Maghrib. What if the cemetery caretakers don't notice he's here? The gates will close at 7pm," she told her daughters.
"But my daughters told me, 'Let him be, Ummi. He just wants to rest for a while. He's tired; he'll wake up soon,'" she added.
The woman frequently visits her late husband's grave.
She said her daughters told her that the man's mother, believed to be a nasi lemak seller in Bangi, died in an accident.
*"When I was in iddah, my children used to visit their father's grave every day.
"Maybe the rider spoke to them at some point. That's how they learned his story.
"His mother passed away just over a month after my husband was buried there," she wrote.
She hoped that he was doing well.
She said she tried to stay positive, thinking perhaps he had enrolled in a university far away, which could explain his absence.
"May Allah always bless him and make his affairs in this world and the Hereafter easier.
"He seems like a good person, even though I've never spoken to him," she said.
She also praised the young man for his respectful behaviour whenever he visited his mother's grave.
"The way he honours his mother's grave speaks volumes about his character.
"The world is full of stories. Even at a cemetery, you meet all kinds of people.
"Some show respect for the graves, while others are indifferent. Some even laugh loudly as if they've learned nothing from being there.
"Whatever the case, may the end of our lives be blessed and pleasing to Allah," she added.
The woman's story moved netizens, who expressed their admiration for the food delivery rider's character in the comment section.
"Luckily, the mother to have a filial son like him," one of the comments read.
Another said: "A dutiful son... he must miss his mother so much."
"May Allah ease this young man's affairs.
"It's so heartbreaking to see him sleeping next to his mother's grave," wrote some netizens.
