KUALA LUMPUR: More than 20,000 TikTok users have been captivated by a snail race on the platform.
Taking advantage of the current Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 fever, the races was broadcast live on TikTok by @tansri_ash.
Using a pot cover as the racing track, the broadcast showed viewers being highly entertained by the race.
The snail race had snails representing different states like Pahang, Kedah, Johor, and Penang, and each snail had names like Hafiz, Rogayah, Safuan, and Dafi.
As of yesterday, the creator's account had 40,000 followers and the live broadcast had over 2 million likes.
Many viewers on TikTok and Facebook stayed engaged to support their state's representative snail throughout the event.
"User @Imah Aziz said it's so funny that you can't look away," he said.
"@Pico Pet Shop said while others are struggling to get viewers into their 'live' sessions, this person gets 10,000 views just from a snail race.
"User Jang Lobbo said humans are truly wasting time. One of the reasons people waste time is by watching things like snail races, including myself.
Another user @Faten Roslan said I'm one of them; I was even nervous when my snail almost won but suddenly stopped," he said.
