KINABATANGAN: The body of a man who went missing after an alleged crocodile attack in the Kampung Bilit river yesterday was found this morning.
Maznin Kahar, 40, was discovered around one kilometre from the suspected attack site at 6am.
District and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Nurul Azlan Shah Jamalludin confirmed that the body was located on the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which involved members of the public and security teams.
"The fire department retrieved the body and handed it over to the police for further action.
"After ensuring the area was secure, the fire department concluded the operation at 9am today," he said.
The incident was reported to BBP Kinabatangan by the Sukau Police Station at 1.35pm on the previous day.
According to preliminary reports from witnesses, the victim and three others were on a boat carrying belian wood when it struck an object and capsized.
While three individuals managed to swim to safety, the victim went missing and was believed to have been attacked by the crocodile.
The search operation also involved the police, the Wildlife Department, and local villagers.
