KUALA LUMPUR: The Pahang Department of Irrigation and Drainage has warned that river levels in Pahang are expected to rise and surpass danger levels, triggering potential flooding in several areas.
This follows the continuous rain warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department on Sunday.
In a statement issued by the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, it anticipated flooding is expected to occur between 3.00pm on Dec 12 and 11.00pm on Dec 14, affecting low-lying areas within a 5km radius around the Sungai Pahang in Jerantut, particularly in Kampung Paya Garok, Kampung Teh, Kampung Batu Embun, Kampung Jeransang, and Kampung Teluk.
"The predicted flooding may occur earlier or later than expected, depending on the significant rainfall conditions in the area," it said.
Residents, especially in the mentioned areas are urged to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the authorities or flood management agencies.
