Nationwide decline in flood evacuees as weather conditions improve

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees across seven affected states continues to decrease as weather conditions improve nationwide.

As of 9am today, 30,392 flood victims remain sheltered at 120 temporary flood relief centres (PPS), a decrease from 37,516 recorded yesterday.

In Kelantan, flood conditions have shown slight improvement, with more evacuees returning home.

According to the InfoBencanaJKM portal, the number of evacuees in 50 PPS this morning stands at 22,558, down from over 25,000 recorded last evening.

Kedah also saw progress, with a gradual reduction in evacuees. By 9am, 3,676 people remained in 23 PPS across three districts, down from 3,772 at midnight.

In Terengganu, 1,230 evacuees from 246 families are temporarily housed at 22 PPS.

Johor's Segamat and Tangkak districts continue to host 966 evacuees from 269 families in 17 open PPS.

Perak has 157 evacuees from 55 families sheltered in five PPS, while Melaka has opened two PPS in Jasin for 148 evacuees from 37 families.

In Pahang, only one PPS remains active, sheltering 15 evacuees from five families.
