KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a case involving a black and brown dog that was allegedly beaten and killed within the compound of a school in Sungai Buloh.
Sungai Buloh police chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad, said the case is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code for mischief involving the killing or maiming of an animal, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) for the misuse of network facilities or services.
This is because the alleged abuse was also shared by a TikTok user, who posted a video showing the dog lying motionless on the ground.
"The complainant said in her police report that on Nov 29, at 10.00am, while she was at her home in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, she received a phone call from her child, who attends a school in Sungai Buloh. The child informed her that a dog had been beaten within the school premises.
"The complainant further said that the incident was shared on a TikTok account belonging to a user named Divenyasshni. The video showed a black and brown dog lying motionless and dead.
"The complainant went to her child's school, where she met a teacher and a cleaner who confirmed the incident. According to the cleaner's statement, the dog's head was stuck in the school's surau fence, and the cleaner struck the dog's head until it died. The dog's carcass was later buried," he said in a statement.
He added that the complainant was dissatisfied because the cleaner refused to disclose the location where the dog was buried as she intended to retrieve the carcass for a post-mortem examination.
The school, however, did not cooperate.
Mohd Hafiz said that the police had since initiated an investigation and advised the public to refrain from engaging in any unlawful acts or actions.
