KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines flight from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur has been diverted to Vietnam.
FlightRadar indicated that Malaysia Airlines flight MH79 was diverted to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh.
The flight departed Hong Kong at 11.41am local time.
The New Straits Times has reached out to Malaysia Airlines for comment.
It is understood that the plane has landed in Ho Chi Minh and that affected passengers will be put up at a hotel for the time being.
This is a developing story.
In August, Malaysia Aviation Group announced it would temporarily reduce flights for Malaysia Airlines amid a string of disruptions.
Then, MAG managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the reduction in its network was needed to execute corrective measures to ensure the long-term reliability of its fleet and minimise disruptions.
