KUALA LUMPUR: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia today confirmed to have received a report on a Jeddah-bound Malaysia Airlines flight making a turnback two hours after the aircraft departed from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport today.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud, in a brief reply, to the New Straits Times confirmed the matter.
"Yes, they notified us."
He also confirmed that CAAM was informed by the national carrier about the reason for the aircraft's return.
"I will not comment until they complete their investigation," he said.
Astro Awani today reported that Malaysia Airlines flight MH156 made a turnback two hours after the aircraft departed from KLIA.
The report said that there were 259 passengers on the flight, all of whom were umrah pilgrims.
The report also quoted a passenger, who claimed that the aircraft experienced turbulence during takeoff and circled Malaysian airspace for about two hours before returning to KLIA.
