Cat, dog found brutally killed at Universiti Malaya, investigation underway

KUALA LUMPUR: Another gruesome discovery has been made at Universiti Malaya (UM) as a cat carcass was found near the campus gymnasium.

This follows the deaths of five other cats and a dog believed to have been killed in similar ways.

The Universiti Malaya Student Union (KMUM) confirmed the incidents, in a statement that has since gone viral.

The matter was reported to the Security Office and police for further investigation.

"I have contacted the Security Office and requested tighter access controls to the campus. We are also in the process of obtaining the CCTV footage," the statement read.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed receiving a report on the case.

"It is still in the early stages of investigation," he told reporters.

Earlier, social media posts detailed the gruesome killings of both the cat and the dog, with their stomachs slit open and internal organs removed.

It is suspected that at least two individuals were involved, as the acts appeared meticulously executed to avoid detection.

Animal rights activist Shima Aris recently revealed that a private veterinary clinic conducted a thorough examination of the fifth cat, named Lily, including an X-ray scan of the carcass.

Lily's death followed the discovery of two other cats whose legs had been severed and stomachs mutilated.

In response to the horrific incidents, a group of volunteers rescued 22 stray cats from the university grounds to protect them from further harm.
