KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to hit all states until 6pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In the northern peninsula, warnings cover Perlis and parts of Kedah including Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
Penang and Perak are also affected.
The east coast states of Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Kuala Krai) and Terengganu (Besut and Hulu Terengganu) are under alert, along with parts of Pahang including Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin.
In the central region, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, as well as parts of Negri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau), Melaka and Johor, will also experience severe weather.
In East Malaysia, affected areas include Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.In Sabah, warnings cover the Interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran), Tawau (Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan).
