KOTA BELUD: Firefighters braved dense jungle and steep hills, trekking over five kilometres to rescue a man who sustained severe injuries after being crushed by a tree at his orchard in Kampung Tindakon today.
The 26-year-old victim suffered multiple injuries when the tree fell on him while he was cutting trees in his orchard.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhammad Syazwan Latun said a team was deployed to the scene after they were alerted on the incident at 10.34am.
"A team of officers and personnel rushed to the location, 22 kilometres away, for the rescue operation.
"The distance from the main road to the location where the man was pinned under the tree was over five kilometres.
"Our team had to walk through the jungle and hills to reach him."
Upon arrival, firefighters administered first aid and carried the victim out to the main road using a stretcher.
The victim was later handed over to the health personnel and transported to Kota Belud Hospital for further treatment.
