KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry received an allocation of RM45.3 billion to improve healthcare facilities under Budget 2025 (Belanjawan 2025).
"The government's priority is to provide quality, comfortable, and people-friendly health facilities," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim while tabling the 2025 Budget (Belanjawan 2025) today.
Anwar announced an allocation of RM1.35 billion for the maintenance of health infrastructure, including the repair of dilapidated hospital toilets and outdated patient wards.
The government will also continue to upgrade clinics for the underprivileged across the country, he said.
Under the Madani initiative, the allocation for this purpose will increase each year: RM100 million (2023), RM150 million (2024), and RM300 million for the following year, said Anwar.
In addition, to support the War on Sugar initiative, the government plans to gradually increase the excise duty on sugary drinks by 40 sen per liter starting Jan 1, next year.
