ALOR SETAR: Kasuadinata Saad had no idea that the crash he drove past on his way home was the same one that claimed the lives of his sibling and her husband.
It was only when his aunt called him two hours later that the devastating truth emerged.
"I saw an accident but didn't stop and continued my journey home to Tanjung Musang, Langgar," he said.
Kasuadinata said he only noticed two motorcycles sprawled on the ground but could not distinguish the license plates due to the gloomy weather.
"About two hours later, my aunt informed me that my youngest sister, Noriza Saad, 34, and her husband, Marzlan Abu Hassan, 52, were involved in the accident and died at the scene," he said.
The 45-year-old Kasuadinata said that the accident happened on Jalan Alor Pudak, Titi Haji Idris, Pendang, not far from his home in Tanjung Musang.
"Noriza and her husband were on their way home to Tanjung Musang after attending a function in Sungai Tok Pawang, Gurun, when the accident occurred.
"Noriza and her husband were on their way home to Tanjung Musang after attending a function in Sungai Tok Pawang, Gurun, when the accident occurred.
"They left behind four children, including twin daughters, Cinta and Qaseh, who are just over a year old. Two of Noriza's older children from a previous marriage, who are in their teens, also lived with them.
Kasuadinata said at the time of the incident, they had left all four children at home, he said, when met at the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) today.
Kasuadinata said his sister worked as a restaurant assistant and her husband was a labourer.
He added that the family has accepted their passing and will care for the four children left behind.
"Their bodies will be brought to Masjid Al Maarif, Tanjung Musang, for funeral prayers before being buried in a single grave once all procedures are completed," he said.
Earlier reports confirmed that a couple and a teenage boy died in the tragic accident involving two motorcycles and a car.
Meanwhile, the older brother of the third victim, Muhammad Adam Awang Saidin, 14, shared his experience of the tragic event.
He and his younger brother, Muhammad Aidil, had gone to a laundromat in Pendang to wash clothes, riding separate motorcycles.
"While waiting for the clothes, I suggested we go for a ride nearby. Initially, Aidil declined, but I convinced him. He rode one motorcycle while I followed on another with a friend.
"Aidil went ahead, and my friend and I followed behind. When we reached the scene, I saw an accident and then noticed my brother lying by the road.
"I called out to him several times and asked him to recite the Shahada, but he didn't respond," he said.
Muhammad Adam described his bond with Aidil as very close. He said Aidil was the youngest of five siblings while he was the fourth child in the family.
Aidil's body is expected to be buried at the Islamic cemetery of Masjid Tempoyak, Jalan Ayer Puteh, Pendang.
