KUANTAN: The second wedding celebration involving the Pahang royal family this year has got the people of the state excited.
The Sultan of Pahang's son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, and the daughter of former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan, are set to tie the knot on Oct 24.
About two months ago, people from various races gathered to witness the wedding of Tengku Muhammad Iskandar's younger sister Tengku Puteri Raja, Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, with Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar live on giant screens set up at Kuantan City Council Field 1 and Tasek KotaSAS here.
This time, the people of the royal town of Pekan will no longer need to travel to the state capital, as a giant screen will be set up at Dataran Muzium Diraja in Pekan, along with two screens at Dataran Majlis Bandaraya in Kuantan.
Private sector employee Ain Nadhirah Basha described royal weddings as much anticipated events as the ceremonies often turn out to be an expensive and grand affair.
"Not once but twice this year....it was after a long time the people in Pahang witnessed a royal wedding last August and now we have another wedding nearing.
"The weddings will be steep in the royal tradition and custom, and the huge screens allow the public to witness the ceremonies," she said.
College student Mohd Syukri Mutalif, 22, from Peramu, Pekan said the Dataran Muzium Diraja will certainly be in a carnival-like atmosphere during the royal wedding celebration.
"I witnessed the royal wedding at Tasek KotaSAS in August and I believe there will be a similar atmosphere this time with traders setting up booths to sell local products.
"The wedding celebration will be held for several days so we can expect a huge crowd gathering during the nights.
"Maybe, the huge screens can be set up at other districts in Pahang as I am sure people in other areas would want to gather and watch the royal wedding together.
"I believe such weddings are special occasions that have to be celebrated," he said.
In August, dozens of booths were set up at Tasek Kota SAS here selling a wide range of products including delicacies of the royal families.
