KUANTAN: Pahang prince Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah and Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan, tied the knot at the illustrious Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz today.
The "akad nikah" (solemnisation ceremony) commenced at 8.30pm, graced by the presence of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and his consort, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, both resplendent in emerald green attire.
Tengku Muhammad Iskandar, the second son of Sultan Abdullah looking regal in white baju Melayu, was solemnised by the bride's father, former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan.
As the ceremony concluded at 8.50pm, emotions soared; Sultan Abdullah appeared visibly moved, while Tunku Azizah embraced her son with tears of joy before he performed the "solat sunat."
Following the solemnisation, Tengku Natasya was warmly welcomed into Balai Mahkota, where she and Tengku Muhammad Iskandar shared their first moments as husband and wife on the wedding dais.
The bride was presented the "mas kahwin" (dowry), a cherished copy of the Quran, before exchanging wedding rings.
The traditional "merenjis" ceremony followed, during which rose water was sprinkled on the newlyweds, led by Sultan Abdullah, Tunku Azizah, and Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
The bride's parents, Tengku Adnan and Datin Seri Anggraini Sentiyaki, also participated in this heartfelt ritual.
Among the distinguished guests were Tengku Muhammad Iskandar's younger sister, Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah, and her husband, Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar, who celebrated their own marriage in August.
The event was attended by notable figures including members of the Pahang royal family, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, and former Pahang menteri besar Tan Sri Adnan Yaakob.
This wedding marks the second royal marriage of the year, following Tengku Puteri Afzan's nuptials in August.
Celebrations will continue tomorrow with the "istiadat berinai" (henna ceremony) and a royal wedding reception on Sunday at Istana Abdulaziz at 8pm.
The ceremonies will be broadcast live on giant screens at the Kuantan City Council Field 1 and Dataran Muzium Diraja in Pekan.
