KUANTAN: The ceremonies for the royal wedding of the Sultan of Pahang's son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, and Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan will begin with the istiadat meletak kerja on Oct 22.
The wedding is the second involving the Pahang royal family after Tengku Muhammad Iskandar's younger sister Tengku Puteri Raja, Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, tied the knot with Fd Idzham Fd Iskandar in August this year.
Comptroller of Istana Pahang Major-General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, in a statement today, said the istiadat meletak kerja will begin with the doa selamat and tahlil ceremonies followed by the akad nikah (wedding solemnisation) ceremony, istiadat berinai (henna application ceremony) and istiadat persandingan diraja (royal sitting-in-state) ceremony.
"The couple's wedding solemnisation will be conducted by the bride's father (Datuk Seri) Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor on Oct 24 at the Balai Mahkota in Istana Abdulaziz here.
"The celebrations will be followed with the istiadat berinai on Oct 25 and istiadat persandingan diraja on Oct 27. All the ceremonies will be held at Istana Abdulaziz here starting at 8pm onwards," he said.
Zahari said the royal wedding ceremony will officially conclude with the istiadat menutup kerja on Oct 28.
Meanwhile, Zahari said the akad nikah, istiadat berinai and persandingan diraja ceremonies will be broadcast live through two giant screens for the public at Dataran Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan here and one put up at Dataran Muzium Diraja in Pekan.
He said several events will be held in conjunction with the royal wedding at both the locations.
Yesterday, a posting on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page had said the royal wedding would be held over three days.
