BUKIT KAYU HITAM: A number of Malaysians travelling to Thailand via the Bukit Kayu Hitam border for their holidays became stranded due to passport, income tax and other issues.
Kedah Immigration Department director Mohd Ridzzuan Mohd Zain said 10 cases involved damaged passports, including those that were torn, missing pages, or scribbled on by children.
"There were also 20 cases related to overdue taxes and 9 cases involving Customs issues.
"To avoid last-minute disappointment, we urge all Malaysians to check their travel status through the Immigration Department web portal before making any travel plans abroad.
"You only need to input your MyKad number to find out if there are any restrictions," he said in a statement today.
"Don't let your dream holiday turn into a nightmare due to problems that can be resolved in advance," added Ridzzuan.
