SHAH ALAM: The girlfriend of the late Muhammad Nidza Afham Mokhtar, known as Miera, was the last person he had contacted before he was reported missing on Tuesday night.
His sister, Aufahanie, who is also a singer, said that their family is grateful to Miera because she was the one who informed them about Afham's disappearance.
"She never expected to be the last person to communicate with my brother. If it wasn't for her, we might not have realised that he was missing.
"We only realised it at 1.30am. Umi (mum) and my younger sibling were already asleep. So, if we hadn't noticed by the time we woke up in the morning that he wasn't in his room, we really wouldn't have known.
"But because Miera was able to track his phone's location, we were able to quickly find that location. She is very emotional now and is with our mum," she told Harian Metro.
Aufahanie said that she was in contact with her brother every day because they lived separately.
"The last time we chatted on WhatsApp was when I got into the car to attend a class. Then I went on Spotify, searched for his song, and played it. I sent him a picture and said, 'Support abang. Got in the car and immediately searched for Nidza Afham'. That was our last conversation.
"My brother lived with mum, and I live with dad. So, every day, we would talk on the phone. We would always send each other funny videos from TikTok every day," she said.
According to Aufahanie, Afham used to often share and confide in her, as their parents are divorced.
"In the past, he was always open with me. We would always share our feelings. Our parents are divorced, so since we were young, we were separated and didn't live together until we grew older and started meeting more often.
"I once asked my brother if he was sad about our parents' divorce. Only then did he open up. Before that, I never saw him as someone who could cry or be sad.
"Since having a girlfriend, he didn't confide in me as much because he shared more with his girlfriend. So, recently, I didn't know if he was sad," she said.
Meanwhile, the late Afham's girlfriend, Miera, refused to be interviewed as she is too distraught by the incident.
