PETALING JAYA: Three Indonesian workers were injured while six others escaped unharmed after the billboard they were working on along the Federal Highway caught fire.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said it received a report on the incident at KM 33.8 Federal Highway near Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Katholik here at 1.15pm.
It said a 17-member team from the Petaling Jaya, Jalan Penchala, Subang Jaya and Subang Jaya fire and rescue stations were dispatched to the scene.
"The fire involved nine victims who were trapped while carrying out maintenance work on the billboard.The operation was concluded at 3.45pm," it said in the statement.
The three injured workers suffered minor burns and were taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.
Selangor Fire and Rescue department deputy director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar was also at the operation.
