KUALA LUMPUR: Any decision regarding the Pakatan Harapan (PH) cooperation with other parties for the Sabah state election will be announced close to the election, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.
"The decision will be made closer to the Sabah state election," he told reporters briefly at a press conference.
Loke was responding to a question about Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's emphasis on the importance of strengthening collaboration with PH, ahead of the Sabah state election.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) Minister, said the cooperation between BN and PH had facilitated the formation of the government at the federal level.
"Perhaps, a similar atmosphere could be translated in Sabah," he told reporters after attending the Excellent Service Awards (APC) and Appreciation Ceremony of the Ministry of Rural Development and Territory (KKDW).
Zahid was alluding to a question on Sabah Umno recently, hinted it would form a coalition with any party for the forthcoming 17th Sabah state election.
He also said that Umno is ready to cooperate with parties with similar struggles.
On Saturday, Sabah Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin had said that given the current political landscape, no single party could contest the election alone.
He said that there is a need for a coalition, and any new coalition between Umno and other parties needs to be fine-tuned beforehand. The name and formation will be announced at a suitable time.
