Cops nab three over disabled man's assault

CHUKAI: Police have arrested three men in connection with the assault of a Person with Disabilities (PwD) at a market stall here yesterday (Jan 17).

Kemaman deputy police chief Deputy Superintendant Wan Muhammad Wan Jaafar said the suspects were detained for questioning when they arrived at the district police headquarters around 8pm yesterday (Jan 17).

"The individuals arrested are aged between 18 and 60," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

In the incident, the victim, who has a disability, was said to have crashed into a stall while riding his motorcycle at around 9.30am.

The collision caused goods from a vendor's stall to spill and fall. The victim was then beaten by several men, resulting in injuries.

He was later taken to Kemaman Hospital for outpatient treatment.
