KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd (CIMB Group) has announced changes to its senior leadership team structure, reinforcing its commitment to building a purpose-driven, empowered, and dynamic organisation.
Its chief executive officer (CEO) of group consumer and digital banking, Effendy Shahul Hamid, has resigned to pursue other interests.
According to the group, Effendy will also be relinquishing his positions on the boards of CIMB Group companies, including as chairman of TNG Digital and as a board member in Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd and CIMB Vietnam.
"Effendy has, however, agreed to remain as an advisor to the group CEO until the end of June 2025, in order to facilitate a smooth and orderly leadership transition," it said.
The group stated that, in line with its strategic roadmap, the consumer and digital banking segments will be separated to allow for a sharper focus on the growth of each business, recognizing their distinct value propositions.
"Haniz Nazlan, who joined CIMB Group as group chief strategy officer (GCSO) in 2021, is appointed CEO for group consumer banking," it said.
Gurdip Singh Sidhu will now oversee CIMB's digital businesses, including Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd, Touch 'n Go Digital, CIMB Philippines, and CIMB Vietnam, in addition to his role as CEO of CIMB Malaysia and CIMB Bank Bhd.
Khairul Rifaie's responsibilities have been expanded to include the role of GCSO, alongside his current position as group chief financial officer (GCFO).
Victor Lee Meng Teck has been appointed CEO of growth markets, overseeing CIMB Singapore and CIMB Cambodia.
Additionally, Ros Aziah Mohd Yusoff, the group chief technology officer, has joined the CIMB Group Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, Animesh Mukherjee, previously the group chief human resources officer, has been re-designated as group chief people officer and will now report directly to the group CEO.
CIMB Group chief executive officer Novan Amirudin said the new organisation structure reflects the bank's purpose, strengthening its leadership bench, and consolidates related roles to enhance synergies across the group.
"It is designed to enable greater focus and accountability as we advance the group's strategic priorities into the next strategy cycle while ensuring operational resiliency," he adds.
