PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man who was driving recklessly and performing stunts after being told not to smoke at a petrol station in Damansara Damai.
District deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin said the 35-year-old man was arrested at Taman Sains Selangor, here, at 2pm today.
He said a check revealed the suspect had 34 previous criminal records, and a urine test showed he tested positive for cannabis.
"As a result, another investigation paper has been opened under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
The suspect will be remanded tomorrow at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court for further action," he added in a statement tonight.
It was reported today that police detected an individual driving recklessly and endangering others after being reprimanded for smoking at a petrol station in Damansara Damai.
M. Hussin said the police became aware of a viral video on social media at 8am this morning showing an individual smoking at the Shell petrol station in Damansara Damai, who then provoked others by driving dangerously after being warned by a member of the public.
He added that any witnesses who saw the incident or have information are urged to come forward and file a police report and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station or Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Muhammad Hisyam Azih at 017-7378704 or the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-79662222.
