Police raid entertainment centre in Sitiawan, 70 arrested

MANJUNG: Police raided an entertainment centre in Taman Sentosa 2, Sitiawan, here yesterday and arrested 70 people including foreigners.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division conducted the raid in collaboration with the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department from Bukit Aman.

Hasbullah said that the 3am raid resulted in the arrest of 70 individuals, including foreigners.

"Initial urine screenings revealed that 54 individuals, comprising 38 men and 16 women, tested positive for drugs," he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He added that of the total, 13 local men and two Vietnamese men were arrested, along with seizures of cannabis, Erimin 5 pills, ketamine, and ecstasy pills.

"Following the arrest of the local men, the police conducted another raid at a nearby premises linked to the entertainment centre.

"Police successfully confiscated a sling bag containing 31 plastic packets of MDMA drugs weighing about 545 grams and five Erimin 5 pills weighing around 1.3 grams.

"The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at RM91,125. We also seized a car, with the seized assets valued at about RM40,000.

"All detainees have been remanded for three to seven days to assist with further investigations," he said.
