KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation into the acid attack on Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim outside a mall in Kota Damansara last May is still ongoing, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
He confirmed that the probe has never been halted, with police arresting three individuals and recording statements from 23 others.
However, no evidence has linked the suspects to the crime.
"The Criminal Investigation Department even examined their (suspects') bank accounts but found no suspicious transactions," Razarudin said when contacted.
He added that the attackers used a fake number plate, and a photofit of the suspects was released to seek information from the public.
"Although various efforts have been made, we have never stopped the investigation," he said.
Razarudin also urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the case.
Yesterday, Selangor Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi stated that the state government had not yet received updates from the police on the investigation's progress.
On May 5, Faisal, 26, suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being doused with acid by an unknown assailant outside a mall.
In June, Faisal expressed hope that his attackers would be brought to justice.
