KUALA NERUS: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) isn't ruling out the possibility of searching more "safe houses" in connection with the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) graft scandal.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki today said the graft-busters had searched nine premises suspected to be linked to politicians involved in the sand mining concession corruption case.
"I'm not ruling out the possibility of more searches. Our job is to gather evidence, and if we need to search, we will conduct searches.
"It doesn't matter what name is used, whether it is a 'safe house', a secure house or a storage house.
"What is important is that any place with evidence makes it the duty of my investigation officers to find evidence."
He said this after the Training Completion and Commissioning Ceremony for Young Integrity Officers (YIO)/Kor SUAR Cadets at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Cohort 2/2024 here.
Azam added that about 20 witnesses had been called to assist with the investigation.
He also did not rule out the possibility of summoning more people.
"As for the value of the seized items, for now, I am not ready to disclose it yet. I will wait until we have all the evidence and clearer statements."
Yesterday, he said MACC had frozen millions of ringgit worth of assets as part of its investigation.
However no new arrests had been made, he added.
